Mahesh bhai,s story on four friends a leaf from Chetan Bhagat 's novel

KAI PO CHE
Chetan Bhagat's novel KAI PO CHE is about three friends who go through the trials and tribulations in life. It is an unforgettable ode to friendship and the magical moments one shares with one's closest pals – celebrating festivals,  watching cricket matches together, strategizing on how to catch the attention of the cute neighbourhood girl, being there to watch each other's back in troubled times and to celebrate one's successes by screaming "Kai Po Che" with full joy! It is about their frustrations their journey through life.

This is a similar story of friends but they were from the slums. Their aspirations were the same ,they wanted a career and wanted to keep their parents happy and enjoy life.  Whatever life gave them they grabbed it with open hands. They did not have time to dwell on frustrations unlike their middle class counterparts... They knew they had no options no rewinds no second chance. But they also screamed kai po che with the same intensity. Who says only money can buy happiness and bonding.
Tushar Amit Bharat and Harshad were best friends. I met them when they were in the 8th.i was their teacher. They were always together bubbling with energy and enthusiasm. They were very naughty too. They were constantly playing pranks in the class. In fact when they entered tenth I seriously counselled them about their studies.I did not want them to lose their goals. That would have really disturbed me. But youth is so volatile, they would listen to me but they had the restlessness of youth..Fortunately they passed with good marks. I think pure and pious environment of Manav Sadhana did play a part on their psyche.

They started studying very hard.Amit took up science while the other three friends were in commerce.Amit's father was a potter.Amit went on to do a course from navy and then join an oil technology company in Abu Dhabi. He was earning good money ,not only that he was a responsible son and regularly send them remittances form abroad.

Tushar and Harshad are still in college but are completely self supporting .they have put into practice our earn while you learn scheme. They are earning from being part time conductor at BRTS. They are frugal in their life styles because they want to save and support their parents and also leave money for their further education. Like Amit their fathers are very poor. One of them is a potter and the second a daily wage labourer.

Bharat also follows the Manav Sadhana's philosophy of earn while you learn. He teaches small children and studies in a college simultaneously. All of them are very accountable to their families and look after them as much as they can.
What is so heartening and so moving is that they want to be a part of Manav Sadhana and do volunteer work here. They have expressed a desire to come and help whenever they can. They feel being slum children themselves they can understand the aspirations of slum children and motivate them .And what better example than them

Themselves. They have wings which makes them want to fly and discover their own destinations and their own journeys but they haven't forgotten their roots.I look at these four friends into adulthood tackling their lives with integrity and hard work. I feel so proud of them. I look up in the sky and thank God and feel we must have done something right to have these boys grow up into such responsible adults.

I know they have left their youth behind but as much as I appreciate their growth into mature adults I  still remember their loud laughter, their naughtiness and of course MakKar Sakranti when they would scream Kai Po Che.
