This year, on 16th June at midnight, Uttarakhand was affected by one of the worst floods the country has ever seen. People lost their homes, farms, livelihoods, practically everything they had, including hope. At this time, Manav Sadhna decided to step in and help in whatever way possible. Manav Sadhna’s core values remain the same from its beginning, focusing on value-based education, health and hygiene, sanitation, awareness and livelihood projects. Manav Sadhna also works for the upliftment of the underprivileged people of society, mainly children and women. In Uttarakhand, we work on a S3 formula of Siksha (education), Shwasthya (health) and Safai (hygiene) by utilizing our H3 formula of Head, Heart and Hands.
Immediate relief work.
The primary focus was to provide immediate relief for the people near the Netala Village. After done the surevey we have distributed around 300 kits of clothes, Rasan, Education kit, Anganwadi kits, Health and Hygiene kit etc. The team of people provide primrary medical services and medicine which we brought form Ahmedabad.
There was only one bridge on the river of Ganga connected to the Didsari village. Due to the heavy flood the bridge had been collapsed. Didsari villagers had to take big round of walking coming to the main road. The villagers including school children and elderly women walked average 8 km. to come to the main road. Despite of the several request to the govt , villagers received no response. Manav Sadhna immediately found the needs and started building the temporary foot bridge on the river Ganga. With the support of local people Manav Sadhna completed the bridge in 3 days. It has been almost 4 months passed and bridge helps many young, old, children women to cross the river. The bridge is boon to the villagers and they happily utilizing bridge.
During the survery we found that many young boys and girls are interested learning computer. To learn the compouter they have to go to the main city which is 15 km away from the villages. Also, it is not possible many of the students to pay the fees of computer . In order to provide computer education Manav Sadhna started computer center for the young village students. We started center with 5 computers and hire local young teacher within the village who teaches basics skills of computer.
The Bhagirathi Dolls
The Bhagirathi Compassion Doll(like Tsunimika doll) is the new initiative started by Manav Sadhna with the Uttarakhand women. The idea is to generate the livelihood through this Bhagirathi dolls
