Our Community Library, located at the Community Centre in Ranapir No Tekra, was renovated and relaunched in November 2013, and provides a completely free lending service to Bal Sanskar and Vidhalayam students as well as Manav Sadhna staff and members of the local community. The library is currently open between 9am and 12 nn, and 2pm to 6pm Monday to Friday and is operated by staff and volunteers working together to offer a quiet yet stimulating environment for learning activities, study, and reading, with a variety of books available in Gujarati, Hindi, and English mediums. It also provides daily access to newspapers and magazines, and encourages members to request books they would like to read which are then purchased as funds become available.
In addition to the normal library service, we also create different themes within the library and conduct a class each week for our Bal Sanskar and Vidhalayam students based around the current theme. As an example the space has become a rainforest, with fun activities like a blow dart competition and mask making as well as more serious classes looking at topics such as photosynthesis and the carbon cycle, and mapping using latitude and longitude.
