ONCE IN A LIFETIME MIRACLE: 17 children from Manav Sadhna share the message of ‘Love’ across the world

With the blessings of many souls and Manav Sadhna’s decades of committed service to the underprivileged communities we serve in, sprouted what feels like a miracle: the journey of 17 children to share a deeply moving 90-minute performance around the world, and touching the hearts of many. Over the past two years, Manav Sadhna’s team of eight mentors led a pilgrimage with these 17 children, who come from the different Manav Sadhna community centers. Together, they journeyed through a spiritual, emotional and creative journey of the heart and mind. The show ‘Jai Jagat’, which means ‘Glory to the Planet’, defied all the negative energy and news that is flowing in the world right now, and instead offered a new vision of hope, faith and action.

These children were selected as ambassadors for not only the thousands of children that Manav Sadhna serve, but all children around the world that come from challenging backgrounds and face difficulties in their daily lives. Their two year journey was one of overcoming odds – failure, death of a loved one, lack of family support, sickness and the regular struggles that children often deal with in their personal lives – and pushed us all towards light, togetherness, courage and love.

The ripples of the Jai Jagat Journey are slowly, but patiently coming to the surface as see small positive shifts in the children’s choices and behaviours. Some of our children who were high school dropouts, have since rejoined school after almost three years. While for other children, whose families initially rejected the opportunity for their kids to take part, have now became pillars of support on their children’s journey. Children who didn’t care about education have become amazing students finally untapping their inner potential after fourteen years of life. And those once too shy to speak in front of others, have been winning over audiences with their amazing talents of drama and acting.

The journey has been rich as we continue to learn and grow together – and needless to say, after 2 years together, we have been blessed to deepen and share our learnings from this pilgrimage on a performance tour across the world. In 45 days across America and the UK, our kids performed 11 major shows in front of sold-out audiences, leaving each theatre moved with tears of inspiration and hope. With one simple message: Love as if the Earth is your one and only family.

The journey continues as we have returned back from the tour and transitioned into the school year. The children have remained grounded in their shift from performing in front of thousands of people, enjoying Disneyland, performing in front of the White House, being loved by many amazing people in each city we visited, visiting various privileged and underprivileged schools across the USA and UK, and much more – to returning to home sweet home, Ahmedabad, to the slum environments that they are from, and not having flinched one bit. There is no difference in their hearts in how they embrace people or places, whether they are in the Mansions of Malibu, California or the slums of Ahmedabad. We are all one. Maybe that’s what Bob Marley meant to share with his song, “One Love”.
